| For as long as they ran together on the Strasburg, these two time machines recreated turn-of-the-century American passenger railroading in the grand tradition. All through the dog days of summer, the two engines would chase each other up and down the Strasburg mainline, hauling long trains filled with excursionists and daytrippers to the picnic groves at Groff's. Aboard the coaches the windows would be thrown wide open, and the clerestory vents set gaping to catch any hint of a breeze. Here we see #1223 playing her part in the daily pageant as she rounds the curve at Carpenter's. |
